Following an incident on 11th January 2024 on Wimbledon Hill Road in London in which a double-decker electric bus caught fire, the bus’s operator, GoAhead, has “temporarily withdrawn” its electric fleet whilst an investigation into the fire is carried out.
Thankfully no-one was hurt but the incident is a stark reminder of the potential dangers of lithium-ion battery fires in heavily populated areas.
