As our first post of 2025, we’d like to extend our thanks to the team at Fire Cloak USA for putting this email together to highlight the Tesla Cybertruck explosion on New Year’s Day in Las Vegas.

This is a prime example of car fire blankets doing what they do best, containing electric vehicle fires and mitigating the damage they can cause.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue worked quickly to contain a Tesla Cybertruck Explosion on January 1, 2025. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. According to Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels, their team arrived within 4 minutes of the explosion. Sprinklers were used on the vehicle, along with a car fire blanket. Our source stated that at first a Standard Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket was used, and then later removed and replaced with a Fire Cloak XL Car Fire Blanket as it became available.

The XL Blanket remained over the vehicle as they continued to investigate the scene. The rapid response of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and other first responders kept the hotel and bystanders safe. This situation gives other departments a blue print for containing an electric vehicle fire near property by showing the efficacy of using a car fire blanket. These blankets buy time, protect surrounding property, contain the fire, and reduce the toxins in the air and ground. Car fire blankets are an essential safety tool for all first responders, but also a necessity for hotels, casinos, and other businesses with parking garages and EV charging stations.

The Fire Cloak XL Car Fire Blanket is available to purchase from all of our global distributors including Stephens Truck Center LLC in the US, evsafe.au in Australia and of course from us here at Prosol UK and Fire Cloak Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket.
