One of our automotive dealer group clients recently sent us a couple of photos to demonstrate how their technicians are using the Fire Cloak™ as a safety precaution in their workshops when working on electric vehicles.

The team focusing on this Range Rover Sport are currently waiting for parts to continue their repair. In order to establish the very highest levels of safety whilst waiting for the delivery, they have dropped the battery unit out of the base of the engine bay onto a counter below and covered it with the Fire Cloak™ as a precautionary measure.
The car obviously cannot be moved whilst the battery is missing so covering the battery with the Fire Cloak ensures that, if the battery were to go into Thermal Runaway, it could be contained immediately. Our client realised that they have a ‘duty of care’ to its staff, and they have decided to use the Fire Cloak™ in a preventive rather than reactive way.
It’s great to see the Fire Cloak™ being used like this and hopefully buying time for the emergency services if any potential EV fire arises should the battery be damaged or faulty.
