Back in 2022, the Prosol UK team proudly supplied the very first order of Fire Cloak™ Electric Vehicle Fire Blankets to Australia. Eight EV fire blankets and accompanying wall mount storage boxes went to Tennyson Reach, based in Queensland and it was a momentous day for all.
Fast forward two and a half years, our Australian partners, Melbourne-based EVSAFE, have completed an inspection across multiple levels of the residential carpark and found each Fire Cloak™ unit to be in excellent condition. This highlights the product’s durability in Queensland, a region that is typically hot and humid.
Over to Clinton McLean, sales director at EVSAFE, for an insight into this project.
About
“Located on the south side of the Brisbane River, Tennyson Reach is a luxury apartment complex and is recognised in the top 5 most desirable apartment addresses in Brisbane,” explains Clinton. “Not only a beautiful building in an amazing location, but the facility management team pioneered decisions to aid in risk mitigation, with exceptional foresight”
This conversion is now happening globally within body corporate groups and facility managers, discussing how to best support residents parking their hybrid and electric vehicles, providing charging facilities and offering the tools and services that can reduce the impact of a potential car fire.
Leading the market, providing EV parking for residents and visitors
Continues Clinton: “The building managers at Tennyson Reach approached Prosol UK after conversations within the body corporate group, identified the ambition to provide a leading solution for residents driving electric vehicles (EVs) while providing safe parking within the underground facilities.”
States Matt Butcher, sales and marketing manager at Prosol UK: “Aware of the risks associated with EV fires in car parks, including the fact that thermal runaway has the potential to cause extensive damage to property, the building managers wanted to provide the very highest levels of fire safety and risk mitigation tools throughout the property.
“They approached us to learn more about our global-selling Fire Cloak™ Electric Vehicle Fire Blankets as a complementary tool, specifically designed for an Electric Vehicle Fire, in addition to the existing standards and fitout requirements that existed in Australia.”
At the time, the Australian market likely had less than 100,000 electric vehicles on the road, which speaks to this group’s pioneering decision and foresight, as today’s electric vehicle sales often exceed 10% of new vehicle registrations per month.
The perfect solution
The team at EVSAFE recently carried out a comprehensive inspection of the Fire Cloak™ Electric Vehicle Fire Blankets and storage boxes. Clint Flower, Technical and Training Director at EVSAFE found all units in excellent condition. The team noted that the humid conditions of the state provide an excellent use case for the Fire Cloak blankets and storage units being deployed within Asia. The quality of the product and associated storage solution ensure the Fire Blankets long service life.
Adds Clinton: “We are very pleased to work with Tennyson Reach and would encourage other body corporates and strata managers of similar properties to consider adding Fire Cloak™ Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket to their fire-fighting essentials, especially as more and more people make the switch to electric vehicles.”
Concludes Matt: “This is why Prosol UK are providing the Fire Cloak™ to other forward-thinking companies around the world as the EV revolution continues to gather pace.”
