Many of our automotive clients in the US, UK and Australia are telling us how they’re placing a Fire Cloak™ fire blanket over electric vehicles that are in their workshops overnight.

They’re doing this as a safety precaution, as a preventative rather than reactive measure so we thought we’d share this best practice idea.

Fire Cloak used in EV workshop

“As soon as you work on the chassis of an electric vehicle, it has to stay on the ramp until all the work is finished,” explains Matt Butcher. “Placing a fire blanket, such as the Fire Cloak™, over the EV in case something does happen when the workshop is closed is a great strategy.

“If the car’s lithium ion battery array is damaged in any way and does ignite, the smoke alarms in the workshop will sound and the emergency services will be alerted. On arrival, any fire will have been contained by the Fire Cloak™, collateral damage will be minimised and the fire crews can work on extinguishing the fire safely.”
