“Special Unit 13 responded to Upper Allen Township to assist Team 200 with controlling the runoff from an EV fire. Crews assessed the environmental concerns and placed a plug in the storm drain.”

As you will see from the photos, the firefighters made the decision to place a plug in the storm drain in an attempt to prevent run-off water used to extinguish the EV fire from entering the watercourse and polluting the sewer network and river catchment. Highly toxic residue and pollutants are the by-product of using water on an EV fire. If, however, a fire blanket, such as the Fire Cloak, is deployed it can dramatically reduce the amount water required and thereby reducing the potential overall impact of an EV fire on the local environment.
